Kirsten Jade Rescue Centre (KJRC)
KJRC is a children’s village situated in the hills near Chiangmai, in Northern Thailand.
KJRC is home to around 50 children with an operating budget that is mostly reliant on our children being sponsored. We are proactive in implementing new projects that can assist in supplementing our income.
Improvements, projects and special outings are made possible by kind donations.

Vision
Our vision is to create a safe and happy environment where orphaned, destitute, abused and impoverished children can be blessed with opportunities otherwise unavailable to them.

Mission
Our mission is to protect and guide the children in a Christian environment, teaching them morals and values that will enable and support them throughout their lives.
We want them to grow and develop in a safe, healthy, home environment surrounded by nurturing and love. We aim to teach them life skills and give them a quality education that will enable them to integrate into society, making a positive contribution to their community.

Our Children
At Home: Girls and boys are housed separately, together with Thai house parents who care for them in a loving, nurturing environment.
At School: The children attend a local school and then have the options of finding a job, enrolling in vocational training or attending university.
At Play: The children love football and basketball, playing tag, riding bikes and most other outdoor games.

Working Together
At KJRC, the children learn that a family home is created through friendship, teamwork and collective responsibilities. On a daily basis, the staff work with the children teaching them basic life skills, such as cooking, washing, cleaning, and gardening. Life skills are important for their growth and development and we choose to create an atmosphere of fun, happiness and personal achievement in a nurturing environment.
Choompon Sarottong and his two younger brothers came to KRJC when he was 5 years old, following the death of their parents. They grew up in a safe environment at KJRC and are very grateful to their sponsors for the opportunities given to them. Choompon now has a degree in theology and a master’s degree in counseling. Having completed his degree Choompon returned to KJRC to work for 5 years. Now, he is married and is working as a Pastor in Ratchaburi. His brothers work in the school near KJRC and often come to visit the staff and children here.
Children who grew up at KJRC and are now in the workforce, sometimes come to visit and bring the children a special meal or treats. KJRC made a difference in their lives and continues to make a difference in many other children’s lives.

Our Name
Kirsten Jade Rescue Centre was named after a little girl called Kirsten Jade. Tragically she died in a tractor accident when she was 18 months old. Her relatives were working at ICC Thailand at the time and chose to name the Rescue Centre in honour of her memory. Last September we were privileged to meet her parents and her sister when they visited KJRC.
It is nice to understand why we have the name Kirsten Jade, and we are happy to be able to honour her memory.

What’s New?
The summer holidays have ended and the rains have started in Thailand. The children have just started their new school year. Those children that had relatives to visit in the holidays have come back to find a foot over the basketball court. They are so excited and happy to be able to play in the shade during the hot days and still be able to play outside when it is raining. We are very thankful for the donations that were given for this specific purpose.
We have also accepted 6 new children from Myanmar into our refugee camp children’s home and 2 new girls into KJRC. If you would like to sponsor these new children, please email Althea at [email protected] or please share the details if you know someone who would like to.
Highlights
The Empl Family in Germany donated funds for the children to have a new experience. The ARCC children have never been to the ‘Grand Canyon’ in Chiangmai (insert link to YouTube). They had an awesome day and slept most of the way home. They loved it! Thank you to the Empl Family for enabling such a memorable day and for many, a dream come true.
This year ARCC have 4 university students starting their final year and 5 other students are at university. We also have 2 boys at vocational schools. We continue to sponsor children throughout their education until they enter the workforce. It is wonderful when our children who have left come back and interact with the rest of their ARCC ‘family’.
Project Updates
ARCC is very excited to have a new software package that is free and has enabled us to catch up with technology. We want to thank David Chang for our introduction to Monday.com which enables us to generate reports for everything we need, keep all the information one place, provide tools to work with and keep us on track with sponsor payments. Each month we can generate a report to see who is falling behind in payments. This will make it so much easier to notify sponsors in a timely manner.
We have also fixed the longstanding drainage problem next to the cafeteria and replaced all the broken concrete down the side of the boys’ house. In progress is the concreting for the water tanks where the rain from the basketball court roof will flow to. We are excited to be making so many positive changes and are grateful to all who donate for projects to take place.
